Race Day Information

*PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGES FOR THE RACES!! You spoke- we listened! The 5k race will now start at 8:00 AM. Kids races will start at 10:00 AM.

*DIRECTIONS TO PARKING…From Rt 78 south come around barricades to Morrison to academic drive. (limited access for hammer participants).

From Rt 30 East or West, take Orange or Heaton street south to Winfield, Left on Winfield to end of road. Turn Rt on 78 south, go 1 block to academic Rd.

*Race Day registration opens on Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. til 7:45 a.m for the 5k and Duathlon shirt/bib/chip pickup . Registration for kids races will take place from 7:00 a.m to 9:45 a.m. There will be NO EARLY PACKET PICKUP this year 2025. All events start at Morrison High School, 643 Genesee St., Morrison, IL. (GPS users – please use “Academic Drive” for your location as Genesee St will be blocked off) Park on Academic Drive and behind Southside School on the playground.

Children's Races

10:00 a.m. 1/3 Mile Wee Run (Reserved for children Pre-K – 2)
10:15 a.m. 1/2 Mile Fun Run (Especially for 2nd through 5th Grade)
10:15 a.m. 1 Mile Challenge Run (Especially for 5th through 8th graders)

Participants receive a Harvest Hammer T-shirt and blue participation ribbon. Awards to top boy and girl in each race.

Adult Races

8:00 a.m. 5K Run/Duathlon – 3.1 mile run out and back to start. Duathletes will enjoy an additional 21-mile bike ride through the countryside of Morrison – yes, you will have hills! Participants must be 14 yrs or older and wear an ANSI helmet to participate in the duathlon. Awards overall and 3 deep by age group. Color Run is Free to all Hammer Participants!

Color Run

Open to all ages, $15.00 for non-Hammer participants – includes a Hammer T-shirt. Begins at 11:00 a.m. at Morrison High School – 6/10th mile north to railroad tracks. No prizes, just a darn good time! Colored powder will be tossed or thrown at you as you make your way to the finish. Sign up online by clicking the Register button below.

The 5K & Duathlon Courses

The 5K course is an out and back course which starts at Morrison High School, with a water stop located at the 1 mile and 2 mile marks. the first 3/4 of a mile is flat with a small hill right before mile 1. A medium hill is located right before the turn around. The second half of the course is all downhill and fast. The course begins in front of the high school on Genesee Street and makes a right turn onto Prairie Center Road, a left hand turn onto Lister Road, then a right turn onto Harvey Road. The turn around is on the top of the hill.

The bike course is a two-lap course with rolling hills. The largest hill is located before the first mile and then again at the start of lap two. The course begins on Genesee Street in front of the high school, makes a right turn onto Prairie Center Road, a left turn onto Hillside Road, a left turn onto Bunker Hill Road, and a left turn onto Lister Road. First lap riders will make a left turn back onto Prairie Center and complete a second lap. After two laps are complete, riders will make a right turn off of Lister Road onto Prairie Center, followed by a left turn onto Genesee Street to the finish line in front of the high school.
